What is GP Shared Antenatal Care?
GP Shared Antenatal Care is

sharing your pregnancy care between a General Practitioner and your nearest public Hospital/ community midwife centres.

How does GP Shared Antenatal
Care work?
Your check-ups will be shared between your GP’s surgery and the Hospital Antenatal Clinic/ commu-nity midwife centres.

How do I choose GP Shared Antenatal Care?
As soon as you know you are pregnant, let your GP know which antenatal care option you would prefer. If you choose GP Shared Antenatal Care, you still need to book in for the birth of your baby with your nearest hospital.

Usual baby and mother checks
Your GP will be providing most of the routine baby checks and
immunisations for your baby. GP Shared Antenatal Care can help establish a good relationship with your GP for you and your baby’s
future medical needs.

Chronic disease management and allied health referrals

Doctors at FMMC have vast experience in managing chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart conditions, chronic muscle and joint issues just to name a few.

Eligible patients will be offered medical rebatable referrals to see allied health practitioners (Dietit-ian, Diabetes educator, Podiatrist, Physiotherapist, Exercise physio-logist, Chiroprac-tor, Osteopathy etc)

ECG

Our practice nurse are well trained in performing ECG that may be needed for a number of conditions such as chest pains or part of health assessment/heart health check.

Immunisation

Doctors at FMMC provide child-hood immunisations, travel vac-cinations, immunisations for work and seasonal immunisations ac-cording to Australian Immunisa-tion guidelines.

Implanon insertion/ removal

Doctors at FMMC can provide information of different contra-ception methods. it is important to choose one that best meets your needs and circumstances. Doctors at FMMC are trained to

perform Implanon insertion and removal procedures.

Who can use the contraceptive implant?
Most women can use the contraceptive implant. It can be used by women who cannot use contraception that has the hormone oestrogen in it.
It is important to talk to your doctor or nurse to see if the contraceptive implant is a good choice for you. If you are at risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) you can use condoms at the same time as using the implant.

Iron infusion

Iron deficiency can cause lethargy, fatigue and in more severe cases, anaemia which can cause a pale complexion, dizziness, shortness of breath and a reduced capacity for exercise. In pregnancy, iron deficiency can cause restricted foetal growth. Iron can be

replaced orally or intravenously.

Oral iron has the advantage of being simple and cost-effective, but is limited by side-effects, poor compliance, poor absorption, slow effect and low efficacy.

Iron infusions are useful.
-If one’s ferritin is extremely low (<10)
-If oral iron supplements are not tolerated
-When someone has a malabsorption syndrome

A pre-infusion consultation is required where the doctor will discuss the procedure and potential complications.

Iron can be administered within 20 mins. However, allowing for set up time and post infusion monitoring please allow 1 hour for the entire procedure. It can also be given during pregnancy, after the first trimester. Depending on your iron requirements, you may require two infusions to fully restore your iron levels.

Prior to receiving an iron infusion with us, you must see your doctor to obtain a prescription and make an appointment with clinic.

Men health

Doctors at FMMC provide men‘s health check, Sexual health check, erectile dysfunction, and pre-mature ejaculation.

We understand that anyone regardless of gender, sex or age can be affected by mental illness and struggles. Doctors at FMMC will listen to your concerns and work out the best possible option to improve your mental well-being.

Consultations are strictly confidential in accordance with state/federal laws, so that you will be given a chance to rediscover yourself in a safe environment.

Minor procedures

Doctors at FMMC are fully qualified to perform a variety of minor procedures with good cosmetic and functional out-comes. Please note that there are gap/out of pocket fees for the procedures – see the fee structure below

We have on-site 4Cyte pathology. 4Cyte is one of leading pathology providers on Gold Coast and they offer bulk-bill tests/services for all patients.

Pre employment medicals

Doctors at FMMC offer pre em-ployment and recreational related medicals.

Preventative medicine

Preventative medicine is one of the cornerstones of general practice. Hence, doctors at FMMC are passionate about keeping the patients well and stop diseases before they even begin! The following services are part of preventative medicine offered at FMMC.

1. Health assessments
– aged 45-49 years who are at risk of developing chronic disease
– aged 40-49 years with high risk of developing type 2 diabetes determined by Australian Type 2 Diabetes Risk Assessment Tool
– aged 75 years and older health assessment ( everyone 75 and older are all eligible at yearly intervals)
– people with intellectual disability
– refuges and other humanitarian entrants

2. Heart Health check
– all adults aged 45 years and above (30 years and above for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples) who are not already known to have heart disease or stroke are eligible
annual Heart Health Checks.

3. National Cancer Screening
– Breast screen
– Bowel cancer screening
– Cervical Screening

The following services are offered but not part of National Cancer Screening Program
– Prostate Cancer Screening (individualised)
– Full Head-to-toe Skin Cancer Checks

Travel vaccination including Yellow fever

Doctors at FMMC can provide vaccination advice for your oversea travel. you will need to discuss your travel medicine health requirements with your doctor.

Your doctor may need to order blood tests or review past immunisation records in order to recommend the most appropriate vaccination schedule. Your doctor will be able to give you prescriptions for required vaccinations, advice and health summary to take with you.

Women health such as pap smear/cervical screening

Doctors at FMMC provides Pap Smear/Cervical Screening Tests, Implanon Insertion/ removal, Mirena/ Kyleena insertion/ remo-val. They are also experienc-ed in managing conditions related to women’s health.
